5-28-11, Day 264

To JP:
Freeman's beautiful bartender.
From JP:
Exploring Chinatown.

5-27-11, Day 263

To Mandy:
papabubble.

A few of Ashley's friends own a handmade candy making shop in Manhattan, papabubble.  We watched them make a barrel shaped candy that was infused with the words, "The Bronx."  Unreal to see them stack the letters in warm layers of candy the consistency of taffy and then extrude the whole mass by hand to create a rope at least 50' long and a half inch wide with the words completely intact.  Hard to explain.  Mesmerizing.

To Gloria:
In Brooklyn.
From Gloria:
Old Buildings.
This is (was) the train station in Manizales. -The city where I was born-. It was built in the early 20's. When my mom and her siblings were little, my grandfather worked there.  Everything around it was no more than dirt roads. The buildings behind it weren't there at the time.
There wasn't much else around it. Today it has been turned into a University. I took this picture when I was there. They also have the first locomotive that came into town, in a monument across the street. They have a name for it that means "tiny one".
To Judy:
Crooked house in Brooklyn.

To Ashley:
Our hero.  The man who jumped off of the subway platform into the area where the rats play and the subway rolls through to retrieve Lucia's silver ring that flew off her finger and landed next to the tracks.  (This is the daughter of my friend who jumped into the Connecticut River last year to retrieve my silver bracelet, made by the same woman who made this ring, that flew off my wrist while I was standing on a bridge overlooking the river.)

From Gloria:
This is the Cathedral in Manizales, the city I was born in. The original one was built in the mid 1800's, but a fire destroyed most of it. This one was built in the 1920's. I was christened there, and most of the older family is in the mausoleums behind the chapel downstairs.
Another place I love.

To Gloria:
Mother's Day Boxer Emergency
From Gloria:
Old buildings.
This is a very old colonial house in Colombia. I am very fond of it because this is the house I went to school in. The people in the picture are Martha, Kevin, and Janette. It is now a museum. I got to go inside. Most of the old house is still the same. They did cut off a large portion of the back. A couple of years ago they filmed a "novela" (soap opera) there.  I loved watching the old place.

My lemon loving new roommate.  Someone taught him to pick Florida oranges.
Now he thinks California lemons are fair game.  He's shakin' down my tree

the diversionary kong.  I'm beginning to see why JP calls them the little
monsters.

I'll get a world record for this.

    He's probably just hibernating.

    What does this button do?

    So, you're a cannibal...

    It's probably just a rash.

Why am I standing on a plastic sheet?

Are you sure the power is off?

The odds of that happening have to be a million to one!

These are the good kind of mushrooms.

I'll hold it and you light the fuse.

    What's that priest doing here?

    Let it down slowly.

    Rat poison only kills rats.

I'll get your toast out. I'll use this fork

It's strong enough for both of us.

    This doesn't taste right.

I can make this light before it changes

Sure that I can Jump That Far

    Nice doggie.

You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses on, would you?

That birthmark on your head looks like 999.
